If you have a small UK debt and have moved back to Australia, can they pursue you?
A web user asks, I have a small debt of around 260 pounds originally, which is now around 600 pounds from their ridiculous interest rate at Barclaycard and have moved back to Australia.
They know my new address in Australia as I didn’t want my old house in the UK to get a bad credit rating because of me, but I am getting letters from them now saying it will go to a collection agency.
I am about to send back the unopened letters with ‘Return to Sender’ on them, but I just wanted to know if anyone knows if they can actually pursue you in Australia and if they would bother for such a small debt?
I have no doubt it is growing fast because of the interest rate, but really what I used was only 260 pounds, so not much and I doubt it is even at 1000 pounds at this stage.
Please spare me the lectures on how I am ‘stealing’ and all that rubbish, I am just interested in some serious, informative answers please.
Thank you.
