How does one become a Consultant after Med School in Australia?

Submitted by on August 12, 2010 – 9:55 amNo Replies

A web user asks, Assuming that you were to graduate from an Australian MB-BS/MD program with good marks, what are the next steps towards becoming a consultant physician in Australia?

What do terms like JHO and SHO mean?

Do the training (ie Residency) periods differ in time between the different specialties?

Is it difficult to match into an Australian training/residency program if one graduated from a reputable overseas school?

Thank you very much! :)

Can you help them out? Post your advice!
