How long do you wait for someone to cash a check before issuing a stop payment?

Submitted by on February 8, 2010 – 10:20 pmNo Replies

A web user asks, I wrote a check to a reverend to perform my wedding ceremony at the end of January… it is now September (8 months later) and he still has not cashed the check. Would you issue a stop payment, remind him to cash the check or send him a new one? I would just like to balance my checkbook and move on.

Can you help them out? Post your advice!
